Extra Virgin Olive Oil – The Healthy Choice

Olive Oil is a natural, untreated food, rich in antioxidants and vitamins. In particular, olive oil contains essential fatty acids that the body cannot manufacture, antioxidants, and a high level of vitamin E. Antioxidants are chemicals that are known to assist in fighting cancer. Vitamin E has a property that assists in delaying aging.

An analysis of the composition of olive oil has made doctors and nutritionists recognise extra virgin olive oil as having the most balanced composition of fatty acids of all edible vegetable oils. Extra virgin olive oil is cholesterol free, and comprises a high proportion of mono-unsaturated fat, which is widely recognised as playing a significant role in the healthfulness of the Mediterranean diet. Medical studies in Mediterranean countries where olive oil consumption is high suggest these people suffer lower rates of cardiovascular problems than countries with low consumption.
